Swarovski Collection Spring/Summer 2010

The precious element of water forms the symbolic theme of Swarovski’s Spring/Summer 2010 jewellery and accessories collection.

“Water is the new expression of luxury in a world where increasing efforts are being made to protect the environment,” explains Nathalie Colin, Creative Director at Swarovski. “I wanted to explore this theme with this important seasonal collection, the second part of the “Beyond Nature” trilogy. This collection, which is extremely rich in forms and colours, pays homage to biodiversity and marine life. Crystals take on subtle tones and appear with new materials that evoke the effect of the changing reflections of the water’s surface. The pieces meander across the skin and appear to leave droplets of crystal and gleams of summer sun. An immense source of design inspiration, water also nurtures all of our desires in terms of wellbeing, exoticism, youth and joie de vivre.”

The Swarovski woman expresses herself this season via three aquatic variations.

With a faint silhouette seen through the small window of a spa, she embodies the pursuit of wellbeing and the purification of the body with water via the “Beauty Drops” theme.

With chic allure she appears on the bridge of a boat before a nautical landscape, revealing her true emotions and her insatiable desire to escape through the “Marina Blue” line.

The final chapter in this collection, “Sea, Light and Fun”, highlights the effervescent side of water, with its nautical theme providing light-hearted inspiration.

Beauty Drops

Playing a purifying role, water exhibits its sensory and limpid dimension in this line of ultra fluid jewellery pieces.

The “Liquid” necklace features a long chain highlighted by droplets of crystal, along with a magnificent cut crystal in a flowing rhodium-plated casing that creates a flowing effect. This oversized droplet condenses, concentrates  and ultimately symbolises the rare and precious nature of water.

“Levity” sees Swarovski return to its roots, demonstrating its expertise in delicate handcrafted beading. The theme plays with the moving and ever changing shape of the jellyfish. With a multitude of opalescent and coral-coloured crystals connected in various places to a long chain, the pieces offer a unique wave-like movement.

Both mysterious and sensual, the “Beauty Drops” woman is transformed into an insatiable, contemporary siren.

Marina Blue

Inspired by the beauty of life enveloping the coral reef, “Marina Blue” offers an explosion of blues and reds, with inspiration provided by corals and shells.

Wonderfully fluid, the “Lagoon” necklace drips with a flow of numerous faceted crystals. Inviting the wearer on a voyage of discovery, a host of rings within this theme act as refreshing droplets scattered with multicoloured crystals.

The “Ginseng” and “Opaline” rings, with crystals in various shades of blue, take the form of undulating and irregular waves. “Lazy”, a fish ring with epoxy royal blue scales, captivates with a multitude of miniature blue crystals applied using the Pointiage™ technique. Boasting a wrapped silhouette, the elegant “Louise” ring curls and resembles a wave.

Further driving the trend for cocktail rings, the clear crystal of the “Line” ring is gently embraced by delicate coral branches sprinkled with miniature crystals in a variety of subtle shades of red, which have been applied using the Pointiage™ technique. An important feature of marine fauna, the jellyfish appears in its bulbous form in the “Look” ring. Also in red, “Chic” is the perfect example of a rock ring and is covered in coral, ruby and clear crystals. It is also available in a blue version using delicate azure-coloured crystals.

The sophisticated allure of the “Marina Blue” woman combines chic appearance with a sense of nature as well as the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere of a cruise holiday.

Sea, Light and Fun

Without a care in the world, this summertime heroine happily dives into a fantastic sea filled with playful, joyous creatures, while focusing on accumulation.

In this collection, the “Elvis” and “Erika” pendants portray a charming crab and a gracious water droplet covered entirely in the shades of coral or blue crystals, applied in the Swarovski-exclusive Pointiage™ setting. Worn on the “Charmed” bracelet, the “Crab”, “Octopus” and “Red Fish” charms cheerfully bring good luck and are reminiscent of a crab, an octopus and a small colourful fish.

Just as eye-catching with its small, mobile tail, rounded form and asymmetric fins, the “Lychee” fish pendant entertains with its large eyes in clear crystal and appears on a gold-plated chain. Available in both large and small sizes, this mischievous little fish is also the star on a matching ring and bracelet.

Beach games and other childhood memories are transformed into thousands of details through this collection of accessories, just as the “Sea, Light and Fun” woman who loves to show her playful side.

Following its tradition of incorporating innovation, Swarovski has used a brand new and exclusive technology to revisit the “Nirvana” ring this season, presenting a more summery version. The creative inspiration is that of underwater treasure, where the colour appears to float beneath the surface of the water.

The vivid colours of the new “Nirvana Flash” in irresistible red, blue, yellow, white and black colours literally radiate light and sparkle. With the translucency of the crystal, which for previous rings had itself been coloured, the “Nirvana Flash” ring is the essential accessory for the summer.

The “Laser” range harmonizes with the dynamic colours of the “Nirvana Flash” rings. In the zesty colours of summer fruits, the myriad of lemon yellow, raspberry pink and clear crystals found on the necklaces, bracelets and hoop earrings complete this joyous explosion of brand new colours.

By combining poetry, sophistication, nature and humour, the “Out of the Blue” collection pays homage to water by exploring the wealth of this vital element, the qualities of which are incredibly close to Swarovski crystal. The multiple facets are representative of rays of sunlight reflecting on the surface of the water, and the ambivalence between solidity and liquidity is emphasized in this Spring/Summer 2010 jewellery and accessories collection.
