In the ongoing celebrations for her 50th Anniversary, Barbie chose to visit the UAE. She hung out by the sea, rode a camel, strolled around the old districts, explored the gold souks and took in the sights.

To mark this occasion, we thought we'd ask some of our favorite local and international designers to deck her out in their most fabulous creations. And so they did! Essa, Belle Sauvage, Ayesha Depala, Jake & Gigi, Tata Naka, Bil Arabi, OTT, Henry Holland, SugarVintage and Asli Filinta, each customized an outfit especially for Barbie.

These pieces are on display in an exhibition at Sauce, The Village Mall, Dubai, until the end of January, using the new Barbie Fashionistasdolls recently launched in the Middle East by Mattel. The Fashionistas each have a distinct personality - Glam, Cutie, Girly, Wild, Sassy and Artsy. These unique Barbies have 12 points of articulation and can pose in over 100 different ways, allowing them to move like real models!

With her newfound ability to pose like a model, Barbie rocked the UAE in her new saucy wardrobe, for a photoshoot which is featured in a limited edition collectors notebook, free with every purchase at sauce in Januray 2010!

Barbie may not be a woman of many words, but this fashion icon has proven, once again, that she is a woman of many outfits!
