Being a mom does impose new responsibilities on women and fashion might not be your no. 1 priority with a newborn in hand. Your body weight and shape has changed and you might feel frustrated that you don’t fit in most of your outfits.

Start by accepting your body as it is now and focusing on ways to make the best of your looks at this stage, as you know that you will get back in shape.Comfort and easy care are your priority now, but that does not mean you have to look frumpy.

Start by staying away from the following looks:

  1. The "sack style" look. Stay away from oversized blouses, tops, or dresses that hide your figure all together. Instead, if you are uncomfortable with your bust and tummy size, go for a top in a darker color in a flowing fabric that will skim your curves and balance it with a narrower bottom such as straight jeans or pants. Don't fall for the baggy all over look.

  2. The "nothing fits me anymore" look. You don't have to squeeze yourself into your regular size and suffer for it. It's ok to go one size up now and make the alterations later. In fact, going a size up will make you look much slimmer and feel better than an ill fitted outfit will.

  3. The "I live in PJs now" look. It's important to feel comfy at home but when you start entertaining visitors in that style or attempt at taking your PJs out to the mall, that's another story. Looking good will reflect on your total wellbeing and you can do it with the simplest styles. Find a couple of outfits that you feel comfortable in and make an effort at dressing up every morning.

  4. The "It's been ages since I last had the time for my grooming" look. Make the time for it. Even though you are exhausted, treat yourself to a manicure and hair styling once in a while and watch how your mood will change. And with home service being offered everywhere now you don't have an excuse!

Treat yourself to some good stuff; with all that you have given to the world you know you deserve it!
