Floral prints add a dreamy look to your wardrobe this summer; they can be fun, bold, girly or simply reminiscent of country style!
Choose the pattern that matches your style personality, scale and give some thought on where you place it. Feminine styles will love the floral in a nude and pink palette with sheer material. If you are more of the dramatic style, you won’t be going all girly but you can still incorporate the trend by choosing bold, geometric floral patterns in block colors. Natural style personalities will love the all-floral countryside patterns, which they can mix and match with a bit of denim to add an edge to it. If you can’t see yourself wearing it but like the look of it, try the print on a clutch or in other accessories like bangles, headpieces and earrings.
Next, think of your scale. You will probably fall into petite, medium or large. Your bone structure, height and weight will determine that and you can use your wrist size as a reference. In general, if you are petite, think of patterns that are small to medium and stay away from bold, large ones, as they will overwhelm you. Medium scale people can wear small to medium as well or large in one area. If you’re large scale, stay away from small patterns and avoid large ones too. Your best bet would be medium.
Now where you place the pattern is where you want to draw attention, so make sure it’s not to a flaw or where you’re proportionally bigger. Use the pattern as a fun element to balance your scale and add interest to your look! |
