As the heat goes up, so does the SS 2010 pants hemlines. Enter Capris and cropped pants which are a great hit again this summer and very comfortable to wear!
To find the perfect pair, look for the style elements that suit your style personality and body shape as in fabric, cut and accessories and pay attention to where the hemline ends.
The fabric may be casual or dressy but you can always dress it up by pairing with a statement top and shoes. Styles that are cut loose on the hips and narrower on the knee and ankle should always be paired with high heels if you have wide hips. If you do have a pear or triangle shape, that may not be your best style. Look for straight pants instead that are rolled up and add some heels to balance your proportions. Going for darker colors on bottom and lighter or brighter on top will achieve the harmony too. If you have a long upper body (torso) and shorter legs, this trend is not for you as well, as it will cut your legs even shorter. Going for ankle lengths in a high waist is an alternative though!
As for the hemline, you will want it to hit your skinniest part. Cropped pants may end right at the mid calf, which is not a good idea if you have heavy calves, or they may be hemmed closer the ankle (slightly above them), which will give a lengthier look to your legs and at the same time show off your cute sandals and shoes.
You can get the cropped pants look by rolling up your own pants or skinny jeans too. Make sure your pants are not wide legged though! |
