This summer the Sailor style inspiration is back from accessories to line and design in fashion. Horizontal stripes with the clean look of navy, white and red are always a classic hit but you can sport this look in many ways making it your own.

You can keep it simple and clean by using one nautical detail such as the wide legged pants or sailor shorts with a clean white top but make sure to add some of your style personality to transform the look from the obvious.

Add some edge by mixing the classic pieces with pop colors like yellow, hot pink or purple. Try pairing a striped top with colored shorts instead of opting for the obvious navy repeat. Or accessorize with a complimentary color. A classic striped dress looks great with a denim vest and colored shoes or bag. If you’re not very fond of pop color on your feet, tan leather shoes are a great alternative.

You can add the nautical touch with accessories on their own, such as gold chain link jewelry or anchor pieces, rope belts and the gold button detailing on a dress, pants or shorts.  Be careful not to pile on all at once though!

High waisted sailor style denims are back in pants, shorts and skirts and very easy to wear with just any crisp shirt or print tee. Make sure you pick the style that suits your body shape and can be worn in different ways, as these can be classic investment buys.
