The festive season calls for glamour, sophistication and style. It is a time to celebrate and a chance for all to dress up!
Whether you’re looking for an outfit for a wedding, a prom or just a party, you will want to look your best. Get ready by planning your outfit and the image you will want to project.
Injecting some color and glam is a sure way to guarantee a joyous mood that will reflect on everyone around you. Even if you don’t normally tend to dress up much, this is a chance to do just that. Depending on the venue and the people, choose an outfit that reflects your style and matches the occasion.
Try shopping ahead of time to avoid last minute panic and disappointment. Start by browsing the glossy pages for the latest styles and what’s available in store now. Move on to window-shopping first but don’t just settle for anything yet. Think of a whole look and not just an outfit. Are you going for elegant? The dress, shoes, accessories, hair and makeup have to be just that. Creative? Mix and match and inject your personal style here. Prefer Feminine and Romantic? Pay attention to fabric and look for a complimentary makeup and hairstyle.
Next think of the items that will flatter your figure and colors that will make you glow. Don’t settle for a trend just because it’s in, it has to look great on you and make you feel great as well. If you are not confident in what you will be wearing, you won’t be enjoying your night. Shoes are just as important. Aside from the style, they have to be comfortable. Your feet will be carrying you all night from the dance floor to the lounge, so give them some good support. Avoid stilettos at outdoor venues, especially gardens and the beach; go for a wider heel instead.
What goes under the dress is as important as well. Great foundation is what makes a great outfit. Carry your undergarments along while trying new dresses to make sure they give you the needed support. If not, you need to look for ones that slide seamlessly.
Accessories are the finishing touches to your outfit. Even though you’re going for glam, try not to over clutter your look. Having one main focal point is best; otherwise go a set of subtle matches. Your hair should look just as expensive and put together as your outfit. You don’t have to go to extreme up dos, just make sure it’s in great condition and plan any color touch ups and major hairstyle cuts and styles before the occasion. Get used to the new style before styling it on the day. Last, your makeup is the finishing touch that will pull your look together. Make sure you start with a good base on a well-hydrated and clean skin. Book your facials ahead as well; you don’t want any irritations, zaps or red spots to deal with now. Again here, the colors you will apply have to be in your color palette as in undertone (warm or cool), value (light to dark) and intensity (clear to soft). Your makeup should be well blended and reflect or highlight your best features. |
