Polo Ralph Lauren Unveils news caddie uniform for the Dubai World Championship
Polo Ralph Lauren, the Official Apparel Supplier of the 2009 Dubai World Championship, unveils today a new shirt to be worn exclusively by the leading European Tour player caddies during the Championship, replacing the traditional caddie bib.
For the first time in the history of professional Golf Tournaments, a fashion brand will dress all caddies participating to the event. Polo's caddie shirts will follow the tradition of Polo Ralph Lauren's Big Polo Player shirts—now a style icon, the larger logo was created upon Polo's sponsorship of the US Tennis Open for the on-court officials. Paired with the Big Polo Player on the left, the white caddie shirts will also feature the tournament logo on the right, the player's ranking on the right sleeve, the player's name on the back and the flag of the player's country of origin. The uniform will be completed by khaki shorts and a khaki cap.
This year marks the introduction of the Dubai World Championship, the new season-ending grand finale of golf, consisting of players who ranked from 1 to 60 in the Race to Dubai, a competition which has replaced the European Tour Order of Merit.
The tournament will be held on the Greg Norman-designed Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, from 19 to 22 November.
With this partnership, Polo Ralph Lauren will outfit all Championship staff, including officials, marshals and PRO-AM players, and will be launching a collection of Dubai World Championship golf wear for men and women to be sold internationally at select Ralph Lauren retail locations and at the tournament itself.
Since 1987, Polo Ralph Lauren has dressed golf's premier players. Polo is an official outfitter of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and is a proud outfitter of the U.S. Olympic Team, designing their uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies. |

Business wear, business casual and smart casual. Dress down days. Soiree. Eveningwear. Black tie. Cocktail. Beach chic. Glamorous. Trendy. Hip... in this edition we will talk about the social functions.
Social functions:
Soiree is evening in French. Nighttime wear means you can express yourself more freely and dress up, not down. Fancy dressing.
Black tie is formal and evening. For men, the major component is a jacket, as in a dinner jacket or tuxedo, usually in a darker color. A woman's evening dress ranges from a conservative cocktail dress to a long evening gown or very formal evening separates.
Cocktail is less formal but it still means a suit for men and a cocktail dress for women. The suit can be trendy with some signature styles but it has to look crisp and neat. Cocktail dresses are shorter, elegant evening dresses, but as short as it gets to just above the knee. No minis here.
Beach chic indicates you will be at the beach but it doesn't say bikinis. Think chic styles from dresses to shorts.
When it says Glamorous, you need to dress up. Express your style freely and do consider who you will be meeting and the time. No business wear or grocery wear.
Trendy and Hip have just been intended to give you a clue of the crowd you will be meeting or the atmosphere the party organizers wish to invent. If you're more of a classic, no need to panic as you can update your looks with trendy accessories. Usually more for the younger crowd where it's an occasion to just be and express your style. |
